Fruits
Ethiopia’s diverse climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for cultivating a wide range of fruits, including oranges, lemons, avocados, pomegranates, papayas, and bananas. These fruits are not only consumed locally but are also gaining prominence in regional and global markets. Ethiopia’s fruit production supports sustainable agriculture, boosts rural incomes, and strengthens the country’s position in the export of fresh, high-quality produce.
Sunflower and other Oil Seeds
Ethiopia is a growing hub for the production of sunflower and other oil seeds like sesame and Niger seed. These crops are vital for both domestic oil production and export markets, contributing to the country’s agricultural economy. Sunflower and oil seeds are prized for their high-quality oil, playing a key role in Ethiopia’s push towards self-sufficiency in edible oils and enhancing foreign exchange through exports.
Corn/Maize
Replace with this:Corn/maize, locally known as “bokolo”, is one of Ethiopia’s staple crops, playing a vital role in the country’s food security. Grown across diverse regions, corn/maize thrives in Ethiopia’s fertile highlands and lowlands, contributing significantly to rural livelihoods. As a key crop for both domestic consumption and animal feed, corn/maize is integral to Ethiopia’s agricultural economy, with growing potential for exports to regional markets. DDG aims to intensify its corn/maize production as part of its efforts to ensure food security in Ethiopia.
